No booze in PNoy Inauguration party
Filed Under News | Leave a Comment
Although we know people from the South will be lazy to go because it’s too far, here’s a friendly reminder from the PNP for tomorrow’s celebration.
From GMA News:
To ensure the celebration does not get out of hand, police will enforce a liquor ban during the street party of President-elect Benigno Simeon Aquino III at the Quezon Memorial Circle in Quezon City on Wednesday.
In a radio interview Tuesday, Philippine National Police spokesman Chief Superintendent Leonardo Espina appealed to prospective party-goers to be considerate towards fellow revelers.
“Pakikiusapan natin ang ating kababayan na tayo dadalo doon upang magsaya. Hindi papayagan ang lahat na nakalatag na security ang nakainom na o pag-inom ng nakalalasing na inumin sa loob (We are reminding party-goers they should be considerate of other people at the street party. The security at the Quezon Memorial Circle will not allow liquor inside the premises),” Espina told dzXL radio.
Aquino is expected to join the street party Wednesday night, after his oath-taking at the Quirino Grandstand in Manila and a Vin d’Honneur in Malacañang.
Espina said security will be tight at the Quezon Memorial Circle, with security personnel checking participants for potential weapons, including blades.
On the other hand, he said police will be on the lookout as well for potential troublemakers.
Police will also deploy personnel to residential areas to thwart burglars and troublemakers who may exploit Wednesday’s occasion.
“Hindi natin kakalimutan ang pagroronda at pagpatrolya ng kapulisan sa bawa’t lugar kung saan sila na-assign. Tuloy ang patrol sa residential areas (We will not forget the patrols and regular rounds in residential areas even on such an important occasion),” he said. — LBG/RSJ, GMANews.TV

Singing Criminals? Cool!
Filed Under Muntinlupa | Leave a Comment
From thefilipinojournal.com:
The love for music seems to be inherent in the Filipino psyche wherever and whatever he is.
This was proven once again when only recently the 100-member Bureau of Corrections Grand Orchestra and Chorale held their first public concert inside the maximum security penitentiary with prison officials, relatives and media people as their audience.
What made the concert unique was because the performers are all convicts and inmates serving life sentences for murder and other criminal offenses inside the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa.
The project was a brainchild of prison officials to showcase the inmates’ musical talents and to prepare them to cope up with life outside prison walls after serving their sentence. The formation of the musical group also serves as an outlet for inmates to ease their tension and boredom while inside prison.

Friendship Sticker ba kamo?
Filed Under Las Piñas | 4 Comments
Okay, Alabang Bulletin discovered something. Something that will probably get us into trouble with the Las Pinas City Hall. Hmm…but we’re here to deliver news and we have got news for you!
There are still Friendship Route (the 2007 version) stickers. Yes, in City Hall.
Don’t bother going to your friendly neighborhood “fixer” or “government employee” to get the stickers for some P500 to even P1,000 (man, shame on you!). Or to those kind-hearted residents who produce “surplus” stickers and sell them to you for P300. Remember, there’s an ordinance that calls for penalties for those caught having fake and/or laminated (c’mon! this is not fair!) stickers.
Oh, on a side note, we passed by T.S. Cruz Subdivision last night (after a very long time) and they now have a gate coming from BF Almanza. Talk about a double barrel of money making for the village. Now, you don’t just pay upon entering the Friendship Route from Las Pinas but you also have to pay when you want to exit (if the “receipt” of going in is not valid for going out)! Wise, wise, wise homeowner association officials.
Anyway, for those of you with new cars and without the Friendship stickers, you can get them at the Mayor’s Office at the Las Pinas City Hall. Yes, free of charge.
Just bring the following:
Original and photocopy of their car’s OR and CR
For registered owner’s whose address is outside LP:
original and photocopy of OR/CR, deed of sale, driver’s license, valid ID or proof of billing (power, telephone, water, etc.) showing holder’s address in Las Pinas
For mortgaged vehicles:
original and photocopy of OR, certification from the bank and valid ID showing holder’s address in Las Pinas
For company cars:
original and photocopy of OR, certification from the company and valid ID showing your Las Pinas address
It’s worth a shot! This news came from a VERY reliable source. Let’s just say my source was able to get a sticker recently.
For more information the residents can call the mayor’s office at 8717000 local 201 or 212.
Let’s not give those abusive guards and homeowner associations a chance to get money from us. Let’s put them out of their businesses.
Okay, now to wait for the Mayor’s Office’s call;p

Yes, it is today and yes, it is pushing through.
This, according to biiig posters around the Las Pinas village.
So for BFRVHAI residents, you can proceed to the polling precincts in your village to vote for your next set of officers.
Hopefully, controversy stops after the elections.

TO HELP PREVENT FLOODING WITH THE onset of the rainy season, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Tuesday called on Metro mayors to relocate informal settlers living on riverbanks and clear waterways of garbage.
“We are all public servants and should therefore work hand in hand for the protection and common good of the people,” MMDA Chair Oscar Inocentes said in a statement.
At the same time, he asked local officials to monitor developments in their area and to strictly implement the law.
Inocentes made the appeal after he received complaints about flooding in some areas in Parañaque and Quezon City due to heavy rains which hit the metropolis over the weekend.
“I have received several complaints through text messages regarding incidents of flooding this past weekend. I have instructed concerned agency officials to look into the problem and work on it to avoid a recurrence,” he said.
Among the areas where flooding was reported were Sucat Road, right in front of Casino Filipino, and near the Trinoma-MRT North Edsa station in Quezon City.
Baltazar Melgar, head of the MMDA Flood Control Management Service, said the flooded area on Sucat Road was near Ibayo Creek where 150 families have built shanties.
“One of the perennial causes of flood is the garbage being dumped into the waterways. We really need to clear high-risk areas such as creeks and riverbanks of informal settlers to address this problem,” Melgar said.
The MMDA has been eyeing the relocation of families living near the creek for months. Notices were even issued to affected residents and concerned agencies although the clearing operations were delayed because of the recent elections, Melgar said.
Inocentes, however, said that the MMDA was bent on implementing the relocation.
“We will coordinate with the city government of Parañaque and the National Housing Authority on this matter so that we can push through with the operations without any more delay or hindrances,” he added.
Meanwhile, leftover debris like gravel and sand which clogged the drainage system in front of Trinoma were to blame for flooding in the area.
Melgar said a private contractor who repaired a portion of the road failed to clear it of debris after the completion of the project.
In addition, the Quezon City engineering department did not conduct an inspection to make sure that the work crew would remove leftover construction materials from the area, he added.
