If I were the mayor…
Filed Under News | 6 Comments
Okay, let’s face it. We’ve all thought of this or talked about this with our friends in drinking sessions or while stuck in traffic or while waiting for water to pour down from our faucets.
What if I was/were the mayor of my city?
Yes, we don’t have the funds to put up a campaign and we don’t have the family name to guarantee that we will win.
But we have this. A venue to voice out our “plataporma“:)
Yes, it’s pretty lame but at least. Haha.
So, if you were the mayor of Las Pinas, Muntinlupa or Paranaque, what would you do?:)

As part of its service upgrade, the Laboratory Division of the Parañaque(cholesterol, HDL/LDL/VLDL, Triglycerides), kidney profile (BUN, Creatinine, BUA) SGOT and SGPT.
The service boost was made possible through a partnership between the Parañaque City Government and the private sector.

The new blood chemistry analyzer will debut in a diagnostic session for the benefit of 100 senior citizens who will be selected throughout the city. The blood tests will be done for free. “It is our desire to modernize and upgrade all our services.
With the fully automated blood chemistry analyzer, the Laboratory Division of the City Health Office can speed up blood analyses and double the number of persons served.
More than that, the persons submitting themselves to the diagnostics can be assured of accurate, fast and reliable laboratory services.”, Mayor Bernabe said.
Before undergoing laboratory tests, Parañaque Laboratory Division Chief Medical Technologist Joycelynn Aman urges individuals to coordinate beforehand with her office for patient preparation and testing requirements like fasting for 12-14 hours in case of Triglycerides detection, etc. (Public Information Office)

Some areas in Las Pinas to have no water
Filed Under Las Piñas | Leave a Comment
As part of Maynilad’s maintenance works, some 32 barangays in Metro Manila including some in Las Pinas will experience waterless faucets for two to four days.
According to MWSS administrator Macra Cruz, the cause for this is the shutting down of the Angat Hydro Electric Power Plant for repair and maintenance by Napocor.
“Napocor promised to complete the job in two days’ time,” said Cruz.
Maynilad advised the affected areas to stock up on water to compensate for the hours and days without water.
In Las Pinas, barangays CAA (upper portion) and Talon 1 (upper portion) will experience water interuption from yesterday (Sept. 28) to possibly 9 p.m. on Sept. 30 (Thursday).
Some areas not mentioned by Maynilad will also experience low water pressure, according to them.
They said however that they had prepared five static water tanks and 24 water tankers to support those affected.

Oct. 25 “likely” to be a holiday
Filed Under News | Leave a Comment
This is according to Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez when Alabang Bulletin asked him via Twitter.
“It’s election day, so it’s likely to be proclaimed a holiday,” said Jimenez.
Well, we (and you? haha) certainly hope so.
It would be extremely difficult to vote first then go to the office. We’re sure people won’t vote anymore if it’s not declared a holiday.
Anyone remember the last barangay elections? Was it declared a holiday?
PNoy? We’re waiting for your word:)

Mark the date! The Zonta Club of Alabang is once again mounting the celebrated Christmas Carnivale Bazaar for the third straight year. It will be held at the Cuenca Gym, Ayala Alabang Village, Muntinlupa City on November 13 and 14, 2010.
For the past two years, the Christmas Carnivale Bazaar has been cited as one of the best bazaars in Metro Manila. It not only featured unique and fabulous finds, the bazaar also had activities for the entire family. The kids enjoyed Santa’s visit, the jumpy castles, magic shows, arts and crafts activities, and dog fashion show, while their mommies shopped until late at night. There was a fun run for the entire family with a delicious breakfast spread served after the race. Dads and husbands relaxed among the lounge chairs and enjoyed the free wine-tasting events, while partaking of the delectable cuisines offered by the food hawkers.
The success of the Christmas Carnivale Bazaar generated enough funds for the club to support their projects. The Zonta Club of Alabang is part of Zonta International, a women’s organization whose aim is to empower and uplift the status of women. Earnings from the bazaar were used for the group’s many causes, which included the M.A.M.A. (Mothers for Ampalaya, Malunggay & Aloe Vera) Project, Breast Hugs, Happy Bikes, and other outreach activities.
This year, the Zonta Club of Alabang hopes to once again raise the money for its new and upcoming projects. These include a Feeding Program for their adopted community, the Muntinlupa National High School Annex, as well as Medical Missions to the various indigent communities in the Alabang area. Interested concessionaires may still join the bazaar. Please call 0917-2731677 or 0922-8290716 for all your inquiries and reservations. The club also welcomes companies that wish to provide sponsorship for the event.
