On orders of Parañaque Mayor Florencio Bernabe, Jr., City Treasurer Jesusa Cuneta instructed trained and authorized personnel of the License Division to keep up with the calibration of dispensing pumps in all gasoline stations in the city.

There are 42 gasoline stations in Parañaque serving motorists as well as public utility vehicles plying their routes in the city or bound to different points in the Metropolis and vice-versa.

The Parañaque City Government collects P100.00 for every dispensing nozzle calibrated. This technical process of checking, adjusting, standardizing systematically the graduations and locking (sealing) the setting of the quantitative measuring instrument of dispensing pumps is done on a quarterly basis. In some cases, however, it is conducted earlier upon request by gas station owners when variances are recorded in the mandatory daily tests made by gas station employees.

With moving parts, gas pump meter settings can change in time without being tampered.

More than a source of revenue, gas station dispensing pump calibration works and provides benefits in both ways. For one, consumers get the right quantity of motor vehicle fuel purchased. For another, pump calibration promotes business viability as sales loss on account of dispensing overages due to inaccurate meters can be prevented.

Amid spiraling prices of commodities as influenced by the continually occurring changes in gas prices, Mayor Jun Bernabe also ordered the intensification of the drive vs. inaccurate, tampered and uncalibrated weighing scales.

The Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program (UVVRP) or Number Coding Scheme starts at 7:00 am – 7:00 pm with window hours starting from 10:00 am – 3:00 in the afternoon.

The Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program (UVVRP) or Number Coding Scheme starts at 7:00 am – 7:00 pm with window hours starting from 10:00 am – 3:00 in the afternoon.

The cities of Makati and Las Piñas do not implement window hours. Thus, number coding is strictly implemented from 7:00 am – 7:00 pm.

The city of Pasig implements its window hour from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm. The city of Taguig does not implement the Number Coding Scheme within its internal roads. But the scheme is enforced on the National Roads within its boundaries, i.e. C5, East Service Road and Manuel L. Quezon.

The cities of Parañaque, Marikina, and Muntinlupa do not implement the Number Coding Scheme.

In addition, the following areas in Pasay do not implement the Number Coding Scheme: Ninoy Aquino Ave., MIA Road, Domestic Road, Airport Road, Sales Road, and portions of Buendia. EDSA, C-5 Road, Diosdado Macapagal Avenue, and Roxas Boulevard are included in the implementation of Window Hours regardless of the city where they belong.

All Public Utility Buses (City and Provincial) are now covered under the Number Coding Scheme, with no “Window Hours”. Motorcycles, on the other hand are exempted from the scheme.

All UVVRP exemptions and truck ban conduct passes granted in accordance with MMDA Regulation No. 96-005, as amended, MMDA Regulation 98-006-A, and MMDA Regulation 10-001 shall not include authority to use the Epifanio Delos Santos Avenue (EDSA).

One of our Twitter friends emailed us and wanted all our readers to know about this new criminal activity that is being done to innocent motorists in the past few days.

Here is his letter:

Hi Alabang Bulletin,

I am one of your twitter followers (@disisjmac).

Below is something I want to share that you may post on twitter.

This is a new (or old) modus operandi but I believe it would still be a big help if people (especially your followers) be aware of this.

Providing you below (as originally forwarded to me) exchanges of emails regarding the modus operandi. Two of my officemates had experienced this.

If you find it necessary, you may edit it to better capture the story.

Thank you.

Here is the new (or old) modus operandi presently being done by these God-knows-why-they-were-born criminals:

hi guys,

i just wanted to share some info that happened to me personally.

The first time happened a few weeks ago. I was travelling from the fort to makati using the fly over that connects the fort to Buendia avene.

After coming down from the fly over, i saw a guy looking around the stop light of Buendia corner paseo de roxas. he is carrying some styro from fast foods store.

what they do is when they see that stop light is about to trap in there, right after you pass by him, he will try his best to hit your side mirror or you will hear a big bang from your behind. he then will throw his styro in the air thinking that you hit him. then he will pick up all his styro and run to your window and tells you that you have to pay him because you hit him. do not open your window. or you will be in a lot of trouble.

walang tigil na kulitan. im lucky that someone forwarded same kind of story to me before. kaya di ko open window ko. nag smile lang ako dun sa guy and drove off when the light turned green.

same thing again happened to me last thursday, gabi sila lagi tumitira.

i was traveling from south super highway going towards manila. this guy is selling trapo. same thing, alam ko malayo ako sa kaya. biglang may kumalabog at yung side mirror ko naman dinale niya.

when i stopped to see what happend just looking behind my rear without opening my door or window siyempre suddenly was running towards me. he was in a rush na parang tinamaan ko siya. knowing na modus operandi lang yun, umabante na ako kahit stop pa yung light.

so please beware. sa malayo mo na tignan kung ano nangyari sa car mo. on both incident wala namang tama car ko.

ingat lang sa kalsada.

So there, dear readers, please, please be careful when driving. You WILL know when you actually hit someone so don’t stop when you experience what happened to the guy above.

Better safe than sorry.

Thank you, Jay, for this warning.
