Kumain ka na ba ng Boodle? Subok na dito!
Filed Under Establishment/s of the Month, Muntinlupa | Leave a Comment
Finally there is a place in Alabang Town Center that serves seafood and barbecue favorites Boodle Style! Yes, Boodle Style!
Blackbeard’s Seafood Island (by The Red Crab)—ATC’s new culinary haven that’s located at the 2nd floor of Corte de Las Palmas—far from a dampa or market setting where one would normally have to deal with the reeking smell of fish and people belting out at videoke machines. If you want to spend a quiet yet enjoyable meal with family or friends, Blackbeard’s Seafood Island is the place for you. Don’t worry about the price tag. Even though it’s located at ATC, amidst premium RTW shops and cinemas, Blackbeard’s Seafood Island boasts of a wide range of food items that are within budget. Yes, YOUR budget!
Now let’s talk about boodle—Blackbeard’s preferred way of serving their specialties. Sure, many of the food items, like Sinigang na Bangus Belly (P320) and Kare-Kare Special (P435), are still served in bowls but to choose boodle is to experience seafood the way it should be in its full glory: all your favorite sea fare over a steaming pile of rice set on banana leaves. There is just no other way to enjoy it; certainly not on an elaborate table setting of expensive porcelains and silverware.
The famous pirate Blackbeard would have none of that. And neither should any bona-fide seafood lover. Try the Tali Beach (P735 for three to four hungry eaters while P1,150 for five to six people), one of the restaurant’s best-selling Boodle Feast, and you’d know why such an unpretentious way of eating makes an enjoyable experience for the whole family. You’d come to realize why soldiers created the boodle concept to strengthen camaraderie. This is one experience all families should do once in their lives! It’s fun! And delicious too! Feel free to eat with your hands as well!
Definitely Seafood Sarap Saya!
True to its name, Blackbeard’s Seafood Island brims with creativity that’s as rich as the ocean itself. The place is always up with new promos. For their 7th anniversary (Sept. 14), they will be giving a whopping 70 percent discount on their Dapitan Boodle. This will apply to all of their 10 branches. 70 percent, people!
If you want to test your limit, you might want to give it a shot. And oh, did I mention that Blackbeard’s boasts of a machine that brings beer to below zero temperature without freezing it over? Yup, they have that, exclusive to them. So, yes, you can hose down all that seafood and barbecue with a very cold beer (WE did!). If, however, you’re in the mood for some crustacean, gather family and friends and try Blackbeard’s crab-by-the-bucket promo. For a group of 20, just order five Boodle Feasts and get those crabs in a bucket! It’s a real snap!
More than sharing a deep love for the seas, I know why Blackbeard’s Seafood Island was named after the 17th century pirate. Both are notorious. The pirate for his adventures and the restaurant for its great food and service.
Blackbeard’s Seafood Island is located at the 2nd Floor of Corte de las Palmas (formerly Crustasia). They can also be contacted for reservations for big groups at 772-2968 or 0917-8790373
So, kumain ka na ba ng Boodle? What are you waiting for then?

Beware of cellphone snatchers in some areas in Muntinlupa
Filed Under Muntinlupa, Sumbungan! | 4 Comments
Alabang Bulletin once again received an email from one of our readers narrating to us how her cellphone got snatched from her inside her own village (on her own street!) and how dangerous their community is because of hidden entry and exit points.
Hopefully, the concerned authorities in Muntinlupa do something about this.
Here is her letter:
I don’t really know how to start this letter..
My phone got snatched from my hand in my home at around 5:20 in the morning last Monday, August 22, 2011. I suffered from pulled hamstring because I foolishly ran after the thief. Because I was shouting while I ran after him, all my neighbors woke up and went outside to see what the commotion was all about. Thank God for people like Kuya Ricky and the others who tried to help me catch the culprit. But unfortunately, my newly acquired Blackberry Curve was already out of reach.
I live in Summitville Subdivision in Muntinlupa City. And everybody who lives in this area knows that there are hidden entrances and exits from Bayanan to Summitville and vice versa. The young man who took my phone ran to Block 10 Purok 1 Bayanan, Muntinlupa City and was never found. Everybody who lives in both places also knows that there are so many robbers and drug addicts in this area.
I’ve already accepted the fact that I can never get my phone back even if i have it blocked by NTC or even if I write this letter to you. However, I’m hoping that you might voice out this cry for help to catch the menaces in our community. I don’t really know if the local barangays here in Putatan and Bayanan are doing something about this.
There are already so many unreported cases of home robbery here in our area. And the culprits, I heard, also live in Bayanan or Summitville Subdivision.
I don’t know how you can help us here.. but, I would really truly appreciate anything that you can do.. Please.. and thank you so much…
Even at the comforts of our own village or street, these criminal elements can strike as proven in the letter from our dear reader.
We not only must be careful. We SHOULD be EXTRA careful.
We hope that the victim reported this crime to their barangay or the nearest police station or to the homeowner association so that it could have been documented. Moreover, we hope that some action be taken regarding this.
Let us all be safe, everyone.

Court acquits 2 “Alabang Boys”
Filed Under Muntinlupa, News | 2 Comments
From abs-cbn.com:
MANILA, Philippines (UPDATE) – A Muntinlupa Trial Court judge on Friday acquitted Richard Brodett and Jorge Joseph, two of the controversial “Alabang Boys”, of violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. Judge Juanita T. Guerrero of Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court Branch 204 issued the verdict Friday morning.
In her decision, the judge said the prosecution failed to establish the links in the chain of custody of drugs taken from Brodett and Joseph during their arrest nearly 3 years ago.
The judge also pointed out inconsistencies in the testimony of the prosecution witness.
Brodett and Joseph, both members of prominent families, were arrested by elements of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Special Enforcement Service in Ayala Alabang, Muntinlupa on September 20, 2008 after several buy-bust operations.
Joseph Tecson was also arrested in a follow-up operation conducted in Quezon City.
Authorities recovered 60 tablets of ecstasy, cocaine and marijuana from the three.

Some “demoralized” Pque cops out to unseat Police Chief; Bernabe urges them to file complaint formally
Filed Under News, Paranaque | Leave a Comment
| By Aie Balagtas See
MANILA, Philippines – Parañaque City Mayor Florencio Bernabe dared yesterday police officers who allegedly sought the removal of his chief of police through an anonymous letter to come out and formalize their complaint. He said he received the letter against Senior Superintendent Nestor Pastoral three months ago, but “he did not take any actions” for fear that it was “bogus and smacked of politics.” “I just saw the letter on my table. It has no signature, no date of receipt, no author. I could not take it seriously,” Bernabe said over the phone. Instead, he called Pastoral’s attention and furnished the top cop a copy. “They have to come out. I cannot take any actions because there was no name at all… Anybody can do that. How can you even say it really came from the police?” he added. According to the mayor, Pastoral is “by and large cooperative and has been helpful” in maintaining the city’s peace and order. The STAR earlier reported that demoralized Parañaque City police officers have written Bernabe. The letter has also reached the personnel division of the National Capital Region Police Office. The police officers claimed that their chief does not have leadership skills and has not allocated material resources properly, resulting in the lack of finances to support their daily operation. The police officers told Bernabe that unless he acts on the problem immediately, “the quality of police service will deteriorate.” But Pastoral said “rogue” policemen want him out because he is “strict and a disciplinarian.” He said he offended some rank-and-file lawmen when he sanctioned them for reportedly being involved in extortion and other illegal money-making activities. “They don’t like me because I’m strict with policemen who only want to make money, those who want to live like rich men,” he said. Under Philippine National Police policy, the mayor has the sole right to appoint his chief of police from the list of five candidates forwarded by the PNP. |
