Number coding to be implemented in certain areas in Paranaque. Find out where here.
Filed Under News, Paranaque | 10 Comments
The City Council has approved the lifting of the suspension of the number coding in certain parts of Paranaque starting Dec. 1, 2011.
This developed after Councilor Rico Golez filed Resolution No. 158 lifting the suspension of the Unified Vehicle Volume Reduction Program (UVVRP) or the number coding scheme on certain roads in the city.
The resolution, according to Golez, is a reply “to the sudden increase in the volume of traffic along the Bicutan area causing horrendous traffic along the Bicutan Interchange.”
The areas affected are the following:
1. San Antonio Ave., Pres. Aguinaldo St., Dominique Savio St., Michael Rua St. and France St. in Barangay Don Bosco
2. E. Rodriguez St. in Barangay Moonwalk, Dona Soledad Extension and Dona Soledad Ave. in Barangay Don Bosco.
3. East Service Road from Dr. Santos Ave. up to FTI Paranaque area
4. West Service Road from Dr. Santos Ave. up to Merville Park Subdivision (Paranaque area).
There. This is so everyone will be informed. The city government, according to our many readers, did not or has not informed the public so surprise!
There will be window hours of 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., according to Paranaque public information office chief Lloyd Palconan.
Please pass this around so that we won’t be blind-sided by MMDA people and city traffic personnel.

Paranaque Foundation Day rites slated!
Filed Under News, Paranaque | Leave a Comment
The Local Government of Parañaque under the administration of Mayor Florencio Bernabe, Jr. lined-up colorful and productive activities in connection with the celebration of the city’s 439th Founding Anniversary.
Coordinating the event is a committee composed of City Administrator Atty. Nelson de Jesus; Special Services OIC Dean Calleja; Parañaque Tourism Chief Marilou Fontejon; SK Federation President Camille Manansala; Youth and Sports Development Adviser Carlo Bernabe ; YSDO Head Louie Perez; and Public Information Officer Lloyd Palconan.
A holy mass will be held on November 28, 2011 at 6:00 PM at the St. Andrew’s Cathedral in Brgy. La Huerta.
Said barangay was Palanyag’s (Parañaque) seat of government, center for religion, culture, education and trade during the Spanish colonial era. The St. Andrew’s Cathedral, the cradle of faith of this “old village by the sea” as Parañaque was called in the past, enshrines the image of the Nuesta Señora del Buen Suceso (Our Lady of the Good Event), patroness of Parañaque.
On November 29, 2011, Karakol participants in gaily-colored costumes will parade at 8:00 AM from the Kabihasnan part of Quirino Avenue to La Huerta, proceeding to “Bulungan” (Fisherman’s Wharf) for the connecting fluvial parade. Participating contingents in the street dancing competition themed “Indak, Sayaw Alay sa Kalikasan” will take to the streets and dance their way starting at 3:00 PM from the Tambo part of Quirino Avenue to the Don Galo Bridge.
Apart from said treats, the Public Information Office organized a contest where photo hobbyists can express their passion for photography and at the same time get the chance to have their entries printed in newspapers and posted in the city’s official website www.paranaque.gov.ph and also, win big cash prizes.
From 6:00 PM onward, residents can watch and enjoy the free concert, also in Brgy. Don Galo featuring top Pinoy bands such as Alamid, Paraluman, Sugarfree, Tanya Markova, Sponge Cola and Kamikazee.
“The city’s foundation day is a most important occasion for us Parañaqueños. Apart from looking back to our rich past and remembering those who came before us who performed great deeds for our city, we also affirm our identity as a people and recognize the many accomplishments we have made over the years to make our locale what it is today, a clean, beautiful, peaceful, healthy and progressive city.” Mayor Bernabe said.
In line with the festivities, the Parañaque City Government issued a traffic advisory for November 29 and 30, 2011 as follows: Kabihasnan Road San Dioniso to La Huerta-Don Galo Bridge will be closed to vehicular traffic from 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM (Nov. 29). The stretch of Quirino Avenue from MIA Road Tambo to Dimatimbangan Don Galo will be closed from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM (Nov. 29). Dimatimbangan, Don Galo to La Huerta Bridge will be closed from 6:00 AM November 29, 2011 until 5:00 AM of November 30, 2011.
