Paranaque school cleanup on

As the opening of classes for School Year 2012-2013 looms, the Parañaque City Government under the leadership of Mayor Florencio Bernabe, Jr. together with the Dept. of Education-Division of Parañaque City Schools headed by Dr. Joel T. San Luis C.E.S.E. started with its Brigada Eskwela 2012 last Monday, May 21 in Brgy. San Dionisio.

“Brigada Eskwela” is a joint program by the LGUs, school officials, parents, students, and non-government organizations mobilize to repair and clean up schools in the city in preparation for the opening of classes this coming June.  This is to ensure that school facilities such as classrooms and other structures are suitable to hold classes and other academic activities.

The city government provided cleaning and painting materials that will be used in the cleaning and sprucing of the various schools in the city.  At present there are 21 Elementary Schools and 10 High Schools in the city with a total no. of 2,057 teachers, 28 principals and district supervisors.

Apart from the clean-up and repair, the Parañaque Bureau of Fire Protection headed by F/Supt. Manuel Manuel will be conducting inspections to school facilities for fire safety. Also the Parañaque PNP headed by P/Sr.Supt. Billy Beltran will be increasing police visibility at schools to ensure the safety of students. The traffic enforcers will also be ready to maintain the smooth flow of traffic when classes begin.

“The Parañaque City Government fully supports the Brigada Eskwela Program. Apart from making our schools ready for SY 2012-2013, I directed the P’que PNP and BFP to ensure the safety and security of every citizen,” Mayor Jun Bernabe said.
