Barricades up vs Parañaque demolition; Expect heavy traffic along Sucat Road
Filed Under News, Paranaque | Leave a Comment
From abs-cbnnews.com:
MANILA, Philippines – Residents and vendors of a flea market have started barricading Sucat Road in Parañaque City on Monday morning to protest the impending demolition of structures in the area.
The residents and vendors of Silverio compound held a barricade after the 10-day notice of demolition from the local government lapsed Monday.
The protest action snarled traffic along the road near the settlement area which, according to militant group Kalipunan ng Damayang Mahihirap (Kadamay), is home to some 28,000 families.
Parañaque Mayor Florencio Bernabe, however, said today’s demolition is only meant for illegally-built stalls at a flea market.
Bernabe said there are no plans of demolishing the houses of the residents living in the 9.8-hectare land, which had been expropriated by the city government.
“Ang ide-demolish ngayon, kung pu-pwede iyun munang mga talipapa. Pero yung residential area hindi namin gagalawin yan,” Bernabe told dzMM.
He said that the city government has no plans of expelling the residents from the area. He added the city is constructing several medium rise buildings for them.
“Magtatayo ng MRBs (medium rise buildings) dyan eh, kailagan siyempre may konting explanation sa mga tao na ito ay programa, ayaw nilang maniwala eh,” he said.
“Meron kaming staging area, may property kami sa Coastal Road, bibigyan namin sila ng temporary housing, pagkatapos [ng construction] ng isa o dalawang MRB balik na sila ulit doon.”
Kadamay alleged that Henry Sy-led SM Development Corporation is eyeing the property for a condominium project.
SM had denied this allegation. – with a report from Dexter Ganibe, dzMM

Saan mas traffic?
Filed Under Las Piñas, Muntinlupa, Paranaque, Sumbungan! | 3 Comments
Okay, Las Pinas has Alabang-Zapote Road. Muntinlupa has the National Road and Paranaque has Sucat Road.
We just mentioned the main roads. Shall we include Baclaran (Paranaque), Old Quirino (Las Pinas and Paranaque), the Metropolis area (Muntinlupa) and BF Homes (Las Pinas, Muntinlupa and Paranaque)?
From experience and without bias to where you live, saan mas traffic?

“According to witnesses, someone approached the victim and shot him. The suspect then just walked away and rode a jeep heading to Sucat Highway,” Dumusmog said in a radio interview.
Witnesses also told police investigators that the assailant used a cal. 38 revolver in shooting Lopez, who was with other traffic personnel in the area at that time.
Dumusmog did not mention Lopez’s condition after the attack.

Complaint about jeepneys in Paranaque
Filed Under Paranaque, Sumbungan! | 1 Comment
We received another “sumbong” via our second Facebook account (add our account here!) about jeepneys plying their route in Paranaque.
Here it is:

I want to ask where can i raise a complaint about jeepneys in sucat road not having headlights? Its alarming since they’re running fast and caming up from nowhere. and I’m having a hard time to drive.
This really is very alarming and dangerous for everyone. A pedestrian might not know that there is a jeep coming his way. A motorist making a U-Turn might miss that there’s an incoming jeep.
Who is in-charge of this? The MMDA? The local police? The local traffic team?
Whoever is responsible for this, we hope that Eunice’s complaint will not go unnoticed.
This is a very serious matter and we expect it to be treated seriously too.
Calling on…uhm…anyone?
