13 hurt as bus rams into another bus in Paranaque
From inquirer.net:
MANILA, Philippines — Thirteen people — including four minors — had to be rushed to the hospital after the bus they were on rear-ended another in Parañaque City, on Monday.
A report reaching the Parañaque City Police headquarters said the accident took place along Aguinaldo Highway in Barangay Tambo at 5:30 p.m.
The report said the passenger Nissan bus, with plate number DWZ-433, driven by Emeteno Caisip, 46, of Balayan, Batangas, rear-ended the Hyundai AeroBus, with plate number TYS-868, driven by Francisco Abano, 40, of San Simon Pampanga, as they were heading north.
Senior Supt. Ariel Andrade, the city’s chief of police, said that at that time, the bus driven by Abano had stopped before a red light.
“We don’t know if there was a mechanical problem in the bus (driven by Caisip) or if Abano suddenly hit the brakes and Caisip did not see that. We are still checking,” he said. Caisip was going fast judging by the impact between the two buses, said Andrade.
The report said the injured passengers from Caisip’s bus were Prescila Pedida, 60; Daisy Luzon, 37; Jasmin Eira Santos, 16; Jordan Jarin, 19; John Matthew Clores, 10; Christian Clores, 12; Jonielyn Clores, 32; and Ma. Elena Bacolod, 53; all from Imus, Cavite.
Also injured from that bus were Vanessa Rosales, 37, Mildred Curiano, 36, and Leny Dahil, 35, all from Tanza, Cavite; and Lorly Guevarra, 53, and Nithan Guevarra, 2, both from Kawit, Cavite.
All were rushed to San Juan de Dios hospital in Manila after suffering lesions, lacerations and bruises.
Some had to be transferred to the Pasay General Hospital.
“But all of them were eventually released after they received medical treatment on Monday night,” Andrade said.
The police official said charges of reckless imprudence resulting in multiple physical injuries would be filed against Caisip, who was in police custody as of Tuesday night. SFM
