The Las Piñas City police is closing in on the driver of a car which struck and killed a 79-year-old pedestrian Monday morning.
Insp. Albert Arevalo bared that the car involved in the hit and run incident that killed Delfin Acaba was positively identified as the same vehicle involved in a vehicular accident in Muntinlupa City.
Arevalo said that based on the CCTV footage Monday morning at about 5:30 a.m. along the stretch of Alabang-Zapote Road in Barangay Almanza, a gray Mitsubishi Mirag with temporary license plate number NQ 6374 was the same car that collided with a Toyota FX in Muntinlupa City prior to the fatal incident.
He added that the left side mirror of the car was also left in the scene of the accident.
It was gathered that the vehicle is registered to a car rental company, which is currently reviewing records to determine and identify the driver who fled the scene instead of extending assitance to the senior citizen.
Acaba was crossing the road when he was struck by the speeding vehicle. Passers-by brought him to the Las Piñas District Hospital where he expired.
Still in Las Piñas City, the police arrested an illegal recruiter during an entrapment operation Thursday night.
Analili Delfino was arrested by the police due to a complaint filed against her by Florence May Paycana.
