The Department of Foreign Affairs’ (DFA) consular office in Parañaque City will be closed on February 14 as the city marks its anniversary.

In an announcement posted on the government portal, the DFA said its Office of Consular Affairs at the Aseana Business Park in Parañaque will be closed on that day.

“Full passport and consular service will resume on February 15 (Tuesday),” the DFA said.

The DFA said passport applicants who are scheduled to claim their passports on February 14 may claim their passports from February 15 to 18 (Tuesday to Friday) at the time indicated on the passport official receipts.

“However, authentication services at the DFA main office in Pasay City, as well as passporting services for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) at the DFA Passport Extension office in Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) will remain open to provide authentication and passport services, respectively,” the DFA said.

Earlier, Malacañang said February 14 will be a special non-working day in Parañaque City.

In Proclamation No. 106, the Palace said Sunday, February 13, marks the cityhood anniversary of Parañaque.

“To enable the people of the City of Parañaque, participate in the occasion, the Office of the City Administrator requested that Monday, February 14, 2011, be declared as special (non-working) day instead of February 13, 2011, which falls on a Sunday,” Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa Jr. said in the proclamation.

He added it is “but fitting and proper that the people of the City of Parañaque be given full opportunity to celebrate the occasion with the appropriate ceremonies.” – VVP, GMA News
