Disabled child dies in house fire in Las Piñas

MANILA, Philippines – A six-year-old child was killed after their house in Las Piñas City was gutted by fire Wednesday evening, A National Capital Region Bureau of Fire Protection officer said Thursday.

Loui Aginales of NCR fire bureau identified the fatality as Angelo Satur whose house along Guadalupe Street in Fatima Subdivision, Las Piñas was hit by fire at 10:37 p.m.

A radio report had it that the young Satur was allegedly tied to a bed so as to keep him from running amok due to his mental state.

The child was also blind, the report said.

It also said the victim’s mother Analou and live-in partner, Bernardo Okomen, allegedly tried to escape, but were blocked by village officials and later turned over to authorities.

Analou Satur and Okomen were quoted as saying that they didn’t tie their son.

Meanwhile, Aginales said the fire reached first alarm before it was completely put out at 12:55 a.m.
