Free MRT, LRT rides on Independence Day

MANILA, Philippines – Commuters will enjoy free rides on the Metro Rail Transit (MRT) and Light Rail Transit (LRT) Lines 1 and 2 tomorrow (June 12) as the Philippines celebrates its 114th Independence Day.

Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) Spokesperson Hernando Cabrera, in his official Twitter account, said MRT and LRT passengers will get free rides from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

It has been a practice for the LRTA to give free MRT and LRT rides to passengers during certain holidays.

Last December 30, MRT and LRT offered free rides in celebration of Rizal Day.
