MANILA, Philippines – In Muntinlupa City, former mayor Jaime Fresnedi reclaimed his post yesterday, beating re-electionist Aldrin San Pedro in a close contest.

Fresnedi garnered 88,071 votes against San Pedro’s 83,337 votes. Fresnedi ran under the Liberal Party while San Pedro belongs to the United Nationalist Alliance.

He was proclaimed by the city board of canvassers at the Muntinlupa city hall people’s center at past 9 a.m. yesterday along with re-elected Rep. Rodolfo Biazon and Vice Mayor Artemio Simundac.

San Pedro first won the mayoral post in Muntinlupa in 2007 by beating Fresnedi’s wife, Loretta. Fresnedi ran against him in the 2010 polls but failed in his first attempt to get back the mayoral post from San Pedro.
