“Holy Places, Sacred Spaces” Photo Exhibit in Ayala Alabang
“Holy Places, Sacred Spaces” a solo photo exhibit by Joy Jesena-Barcelon, will be held in cooperation with Asia United Bank in Alabang. The exhibit features 16 stunning photographs of churches, temples and other consecrated places in the Philippines.
Among these is the cavernous Callao Cave Shrine, with beautiful limestone stalactites, stalagmites and an awe-inspiring natural skylight. Located in Cagayan Valley, this is frequented by the pious especially during the Holy Week. The mystic surroundings add to the intensity of their spiritual transcendence.
The impressive Temple of a Thousand Buddhas in Quezon City also provides solemnity, inspiring deep prayer and meditation. Hundreds of polished wooden figurines witness the devotion of these Buddhists.
Even the series of cross-marked graves in the Manila American Cemetery and Memorial, when juxtaposed against the nearby towering condominiums, give one cause to contemplate on the true meaning of life.
With these images, Asia United Bank, through the Vice President and Area Head Florante V. Fajardo, and the photographer, Joy Jesena-Barcelon, hope to contribute to the relevance and solemnity of the Lenten Season.
The photo exhibit may be viewed Monday to Friday, during banking hours 9-4pm, at the lobby of Asia United Bank, ground floor of BMW Center, Commerce Avenue, Madrigal Business Park, Ayala Alabang, Muntinlupa.
