Jewelry shop in SM Bicutan robbed; Five wounded due to explosion

From batangastoday.com:

Armed men were reported by police authorities to have robbed a jewelry shop inside SM Department Store in Bicutan, Parañaque around 8 PM.

According to local news reports, four armed men attacked the jewelry shop on the third floor of SM Mall and took an unidentified amount of jewelry.  During the escape of the suspects, one of them threw a hand grenade.  According to initial reports from police authorities, five persons were wounded due to the explosion.  The victims were immediately brought to the mall clinic for first aid while some were rushed to the nearest hospital.

Philippine National Police Chief Superintendent Nicanor Bartolome said that the suspects are members of the “Martilyo Gang”. They are also looking at the possibility that these people who robbed the jewelry store inside SM Bicutan may have a connection to the earlier robbery incident of a jewelry store in Bicutan, Sunday noon.

After the incident, the mall was closed and employees were sent home.

Only months ago, an ATM station inside SM Dasmariñas was also robbed by heavily armed men.

Police authorities say that they immediately conducted a pursuit operation against the suspects.
