JUST IN: 3 killed in Las Piñas shootout; summary-execution victim’s body recovered
From gmanetwork.com:
Some three suspects were killed early Sunday morning when they refused to stop their vehicle at a Las Piñas City checkpoint and opened fire at pursuing police officers, Super Radyo dzBB’s James Agustin reported.
According to Las Piñas City police chief Sr. Supt. Jemar Modequillo, the suspects were on an AUV and instead of stopping at a police checkpoint at the corner of Real Street and Naga Street, they roared through.
Police officers gave chase even as the suspects opened fire on them. The gunmen were finally stopped and killed at the Barangay Pulang Lupa Uno-section of the C5 Extension.
Investigators searched the suspects’ vehicle and found a .38 caliber and a 9mm pistol, and a shotgun.
They also found the corpse of a suspected summary-execution victim, whose face and hands were wrapped in packaging tape. Some two packets of shabu were also found on the body, and a sign which identified the victim as a drug dealer was also found.
Modequillo speculated that the suspects were on their way to dump the body when they unexpectedly came across the police checkpoint. — DVM, GMA News
