MANILA, Philippines – A manhunt has been launched against a cable technician who allegedly stabbed and robbed a woman and also attempted to rape her in her apartment in Muntinlupa City.
National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) director Leonardo Espina recently ordered authorities to track down the suspect, Rommel Mendoza.
“I ordered my men not to sleep nor stop until suspect is arrested and put behind bars,” Espina said.
The woman contracted the services of Mendoza after she encountered problems with her cable connection.
The victim tried to contact the Sky Cable hotline first but when she failed to get through, she decided to send a text message to Mendoza who installed her cable connection last month.
The woman said that when Mendoza arrived at her apartment, he suddenly attacked her, stabbing the victim seven times and even attempted to rape her.
The woman had to fake her own death to avoid being raped. The victim said Mendoza took her laptop, a mobile phone, and cash.
Police appealed to the public not to immediately allow a stranger inside one’s residence especially if a person is alone.
