Muntinlupa bans karaoke on weekdays
As respect and in consideration of those doing online classes in the confines of their own homes, the Muntinlupa City government this week approved an ordinance banning karaoke (yes, videoke is included in this) in the city from Monday to Friday.
Signed by Mayor Jaime Fresnedi, Ordinance 2020-142 bans the use of karaoke/videoke and other similar devices that cause too much noise (yes, playing music loudly is also included) during weekdays and is only allowed on Saturday from 6am to 10pm and on Sundays from 6am to 8pm.
Some exemptions are public announcements made by local and national government agencies.
Violators will be fined from P2,000 to P5,000, depending on how many times they have been found guilty AND can also be jailed up to 30 days OR both.
City Hall will be assisted by Muntinlupa PNP, the Public Order and Security Office, the City Security Office, barangay captains and their staff and other personnel that the Mayor’s Office will be assigning to implement this ordinance.
We are for this totally. At least now, we can just start practicing our singing in the shower.
