Muntinlupa City Hall launches Operation Anti-Bird Flu in city
Alarmed by news concerning the spread of the dreaded bird flu, Muntinlupa City Hall ordered concerned agencies to make sure it does not reach the city.
In a concerted effort last week, the City Veterinary Office together with the Business Permits and Licensing Office, the City Health Office, the Muntinlupa Public Market management and the Public Information Office visited the Muntinlupa Public Market to inspect the different poultry products being sold there.
During the inspection, around 187 kilos of hot meat (chicken, pork and beef) were confiscated and rightfully burned in a vacant lot.
According to the City Veterinary Office, “meat products in Muntinlupa are safe to eat”, adding that they will be constantly checking all establishments selling meat to make sure bird flu does not penetrate the city.
Mayor Jaime Fresnedi also called on Muntinlupa residents to be careful and alert so as not to get sick.
For any questions regarding bird flu, the City Veterinary Office of Muntinlupa can be reached at 862-3866.
