The Muntinlupa City government has identified the high priority groups as it unveiled its coronavirus disease (COVID-19) vaccination plan for residents

Earlier, the city government announced that it would allot P170 million for the vaccination rollout and has ordered 400,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine from AstraZeneca.

Under its vaccination plan, which was approved by the Muntinlupa City Council and will be submitted to the Department of Health and Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID), the top priority for vaccination are medical frontliners.

They are followed by indigent senior citizens, remaining senior citizens, remaining indigent population, uniformed personnel, teachers and social workers, other government employees, essential workers in industries, food, agriculture, transport and tourism, persons with disability (PWD) and prisoners, seafarers and overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), and the remaining workforce.

There will be 28 vaccination centers in Muntinlupa to be placed in public schools with 56 vaccination teams to man them.

The city government targets to vaccinate 380,000 residents. With an estimate of 5,600 persons that can be vaccinated per day, the city government indicated that the first dose of the vaccine will be completed in 68 working days or two to three months.

Under the plan, the first step will be the pre-registration of residents, followed by registration, and validation. Counselling and consent will follow, as well as screening, vaccination, and post-vaccination monitoring.

Mayor Jaime Fresnedi had earlier led a COVID-19 vaccination simulation at Muntinlupa National High School in Bgy. Poblacion.

The simulation exercise was aimed at preparing vaccination teams on the proper handling and vaccine administration in anticipation of the national government’s approval of a vaccine for use and distribution and the arrival of the vaccine supply.

Muntinlupa City Health Officer Dr. Teresa Tuliao said the exercise will help the local government to further improve its vaccination site management.

A Task Force on COVID-19 Vaccination has been created to oversee the registration for the vaccination program, conduct information campaigns, and ensure that vaccines are in good condition.

As part of the vaccination plan, the city’s Public Information Office and Health Education and Promotion Officers of the City Health Office (CHO) are conducting promotion activities in public and private health facilities to generate demand and uptake for COVID-19 vaccine among the eligible population.

As of Feb. 2, Muntinlupa has 77 active COVID-19 cases out of 5,376 confirmed cases that include 5,130 recoveries and 169 deaths.
