New housing project to rise in Muntinlupa
With housing as one of the major issues in Muntinlupa, it was announced recently that a new housing project will soon rise in in the city that will benefit thousands of informal settlers and other city residents.
This after the City Council passed a resolution giving authority to Mayor Aldrin San Pedro to enter into an agreement for the planning and development of a 18.5-hectare land located in the New Bilibid Prison Reservation (NBP) area for mixed income residential projects.
City Resolution 10-348, signed by council members and approved by San Pedro, will provide housing to residents of the NBP; informal settlers living in low-lying, flood-prone and danger areas; and qualified city and national government employees in Muntinlupa.
The allocation of the land for housing is based on Presidential Proclamation 1159 which allocates 22 hectares of land inside the NBP for mixed-income residential units.
Under this, the Muntinlupa City government will prepare technical plans for the project and provide funding or solicit support from partners for financing of infrastructure facilities such as roads, electricity, water and drainage.
It will also screen and select the housing beneficiaries.
“This is part of our major program in housing that will benefit thousands of families in Muntinlupa especially those living in danger areas,” San Pedro said.
