Despite the searing summer heat, it is illegal to roam around topless in Muntinlupa.

The Muntinlupa City government reminded residents that there is an “Anti-Half Naked” ordinance that prohibits anyone from going without a top in public places.

Ordinance 17-070 covers places such as roads, sidewalks, park, and bridges.

Those who will be caught will be fined P500 for the first offense, P1,000 for second offense, and P1,500 for third offense.

The Muntinlupa City Council passed the ordinance to promote decency, propriety, and observance of proper decorum.

Under the local law, members of the Philippine National Police, and barangay officials and enforcers will be implementing the ordinance and serve as apprehenders.

Exemptions to the ordinance include activities with special permit issued by the city government, medical emergencies, indigenous people wearing ethnic clothes, public swimming pools, beaches, and rivers, and persons engaged in sports and sports activities.
