“NO to the ‘Cavite Bridge’ in BFRV!”

Some concerned residents of BF Resort Village in Las Pinas messaged Alabang Bulletin recently to ask assistance in putting a stop to the construction of “Cavite Bridge”.

In a petition they filed on the website change.org, the concerned residents are trying to gather support for DPWH to stop construction of an all access gate currently being built on the far end of Onelia Jose St. corner F. Dela Cruz St., adjacent to the Zapote River.

According to them, “the bridge will have direct connection to undeveloped lands which are inhabited by informal settlers.”

They said they are filing the petition in consideration of BFRV residents’ “safety, security, welfare and priviliges” and to protect BF Resort since it is a private village.

The petitioners are also afraid that the bridge will bring further increase in vehicular traffic to their already-congested roads.

“Opening additional access gates to said bridge will further put a strain on our menial village security force,” the concerned villagers added.

In the petition, they also said that “majorty of the residents” agree with them.

“Please stop the construction of the bridge and opening of road to Cavite. You will put the security and safety of the bfresort residents at risk. Please create road connections outside the village. BF Resort is a private subdivision. Please stop this bridge connection!!” said villager Zenaida Torres.

“I’m signing this petition to protect our community from susceptibility to crimes, accidents and congested streets, expressed Gless Buan, another villager.

Several other supporters of the petition reiterated that security was their main concern.

The petitioners will also be organizing a motorcade on Sept. 9 to let as many homeowners as possible know about the effects of the “Cavite Bridge” construction.

We will keep everyone posted on the developments of this.

The big question here is… why is Secretary Villar spending PUBLIC MONEY and using GOVERNMENT RESOURCES to build private roads, sidewalks, speed bumps, and now a bridge inside his PRIVATE subdivision?

Is it because they plenty of land within this subdivision whose property values will increase because of the infrastructure improvements?

This is a clear and present example of GRAFT and CORRUPTION.
