Paperless business permit renewal now available in Paranaque
The Paranaque City Business Permits and Licensing Office (BPLO) has introduced another innovation in renewing business permits — no more application forms.
In a statement by BPLO chief Atty. Melanie S. Malaya, she said that all business owners seeking to renew their business permits for 2016 no longer need to fill up an application form.
There are some 20,000 registered business establishments in the city.
She said that since BPLO operations are now fully computerized, the information needed to process their application is now easily accessible from the BPLO database, henced, there is no longer any need to enter the data anew in an application form.
“Once they come to our office, our BPLO assessors will just download their data from the database and show it to the taxpayer. If there is no change in their details, assessment can procedd without delay, thus saving time and effort for both the taxpayer and government,” she said.
“Besides, with our paperless application system, we save more trees; thus there is this added benefit to the planet,” she said.
The paperless application system is part of the program of Paranaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez to streamline government transactions in all the offices of the city government.
Recently, the Civil Service Commision and Bantay.ph, an anti-corruption watchdog, ranked the Paranaque BPLO as No. 1 in Anti-Red Tape Act (ARTA) Compliance among all 16 cities in the National Capital Region in the recently-concluded ARTA Compliance and Citizen Satisfaction Survey.
Paranaque BPLO got an overall score of 90.7 or 4.5 stars to emerge as the most compliant in Metro Manila in eliminating red tape and corruption in the process of securing a business permit of transparency, process flow, compliance with ARTA standards and the presence of fixers.
“We are proud of the recogniation we got from CSC and Bantay.ph and we can assure the public of more innovations besides the paperless application system in order to increase customer satisfaction with the city government,” said Olivarez.
Malaya added that with their simplified 4-step process, Paranaque taxpayers are assured of customer-friendly transactions and a hassle-free process that will save the taxpayers time and money.
