Pay your Real Property Tax online in Paranaque!

Good news for Parañaque taxpayers!

This city’s LGU, under administration of Mayor Florencio Bernabe, Jr. will launch its Real Property Tax (RPT) Online Payment System on Monday, December 6, 2010.

This real time system is basically the first in the country, another service innovation and milestone for Parañaque, likewise an additional constituent and business-friendly program of this local government unit.

This developed as the Parañaque City Government and the Landbank of the Philippines (LBP) entered into a Memorandum of Agreement for the acceptance of RPT through the electronic payment system.

Added to the traditional mode of RPT payment, the alternative method will redound to the mutual benefit, convenience and protection of both the taxpayers and the city government.

Under the system, taxpayers need not go to city hall to pay their real property taxes because they can do this via internet. Also, it effectively eliminates “red tape” and “fixers”.

Taxpayers using this alternative method will be given the same discounts for advance and prompt RPT payments as those making their payments through the conventional way. Also, they will be issued the same official receipts as those paying their RPT at city hall.

This e-banking facility is open 24/7 and payments can be made even on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. When accessing the system while abroad, taxpayer must use Philippine time.

For admission to RPT Online, the applicant must have the following systems requirements: 1) A Real Property Tax Account in Parañaque. Please note that RPT accounts with delinquencies cannot be applied for enrollment in the system; 2) An active e-mail account; and 3) An active bank account with the partner bank- the Land Bank of the Philippines.

To enroll, the taxpayer can either register online or in person at the EDP Office, Parañaque City Hall. A User ID and a password will be sent to the applicant thru email. The taxpayer will also receive a Letter of Introduction which he/she should print and present to any Landbank branch.

To pay online, the property owner need only to go to the city website (www.paranaque.gov.ph); find the link on RPT Online; log in using the assigned User ID and Password; select the Real Property Units (RPUs); enter the Land Bank account information then follow instructions for verification and fund transfer as prompted by the system.

The transaction will be completed after fund transfer has been enabled. A confirmation will appear on screen, serving as the transaction’s receipt. It can be saved or printed for record purposes. Apart from the on-screen confirmation, he/she will also receive an e-mail copy thereof.  Moreover, the taxpayer can claim for an official receipt from the Treasurer’s Office on his/her visit to the city hall.

“The introduction of the e-payment system is the city government’s recognition of the advantages of “internet banking”.  It is also a part of our modernization program that uses an effective, efficient and expeditious system of accepting payments for the mutual benefit of the citizens, property owners and our LGU.”, Mayor Bernabe said.

Tasked to coordinate the installation and running of the system is the Electronic Data Processing (EDP) Division while program implementation will be handled by the City Treasurer’s Office under Ms. Jesusa Cuneta.
