The Dept. of Social Welfare and Development-National Capital Region (DSWD-NCR), in cooperation with the Parañaque City Government under the leadership of Mayor Florencio Bernabe, Jr. extended educational assistance to 65 street children on Friday, July 6, 2012.

Said stipend represents the assistance for School Year 2012-13 which is provided under the agency’s Educational Assistance Program (EAP), a component of the Comprehensive Program for Street Children, Street Families and Indigenous People.

Coordinating for the city are the Parañaque DSWD headed by Mr. Dean Calleja and the Office of Councilor Benjo Bernabe.

“Education is the key out of poverty.  We commend the DSWD for having a program that focuses on the welfare of street children who, if left on their own will not grow up as responsible, productive, healthy and law-abiding citizens. Our city government supports DSWD programs, always. The welfare of our citizens will be our main focus, always. ”, Mayor Jun Bernabe said.
