Suspect in Parañaque mother-and-son killing caught; Admits to crime
From gmanetwork.com:
(Updated 9 a.m.) The suspect in the killing of a mother and son, whose bodies were found in Parañaque City last weekend, has admitted to the crime. The suspect, Danilo Rafael Sr., was arrested by law enforcement officers on Tuesday.
Police investigators said the suspect admitted to killing Fe Rafael and her son Danilo out of jealousy, radio dzBB reported early Wednesday.
Investigators seized a .45 caliber pistol with bullets and a mobile phone from the suspect, according to a report on GMA News’ “Unang Hirit.”
The alleged killer was arrested at a hotel in Tuguegarao City in Cagayan province, days after the victims’ bodies were found stuffed in the trunk of the family car in Parañaque City, the report said.
Authorities are set to file two counts of parricide charges against the suspect, it added.
In an interview at the Parañaque City Hall aired in the same report, the suspect said he regretted committing the crime, and asked for their family’s forgiveness.
“Sana maunawan at maintindihan nila ako dahil humihingi po tayo ng tawad sa kanila,” he said.
An earlier report by dzBB’s Paulo Santos said police were making preparations early Wednesday to bring the suspect back to Parañaque.
A report on “24 Oras” said the suspect was identified because of a security camera in the area.
The bodies of the victims, Fe and Danilo, were found Sunday night, stuffed into the trunk of the family’s red Ford sedan. The car was parked in front of the victims’ house in Parañaque City.
The victims, who were set to visit their relatives in Maragondon, Cavite, were reported missing on Saturday. — with a report from Amanda Fernandez /DVM/LBG, GMA News
