Transform Paranaque to City of Smiles! – Pque LGU

In line with Parañaque City Mayor Jun Bernabe’s “Healthy Lifestyle Program”, the Dental Division of the City Health Office ran anew its continuing dental education, examination and consultation program for city employees.

Dubbed as “Masiglang Ngiti Ng Empleyadong Pilipino II” this year’s edition has been running since last month to date. The City’s Dental Health Team has been visiting the different offices at the city hall and extension offices in outside venues to explain the importance of dental care in relation to a person’s general state of health.

Apart from the routine dental examination and pep talk on increased brushing frequency, proper brushing techniques and the need to see the dentist regularly, the city’s dentists once again made a survey on smoking while pushing the “Quit Smoking” advocacy.

It is a known fact that dental cavities and teeth loss can undermine personality and confidence. More than that, these conditions may cause indigestion and improper nutrition; speech dysfunction, facial deformations, serious infections and other health problems.

Those who are diagnosed with dental caries and with teeth indicated for extraction will be scheduled for treatment at the City Dental Clinic for treatment. Those with dento-facial anomalies will be referred to specialized dental clinics or hospitals.

“We are actively implementing our Healthy Lifestyle Program for the general welfare of our employees and their families, likewise to minimize if not totally prevent absences, tardiness, downtime and other man-hour loss for optimized efficiency and better public service.”, Mayor Bernabe said.

Recently, the city government upgraded the city’s health centers with new dental chairs and dental equipment to provide better dental services to its constituents. The City Health Office is headed by Dr. Olga Virtusio while the Dental Division is under the supervision of Dr. Marissa Banta.
