Verbena Makes It To Miele Guide Part 2

The prestigious Miele Guide, considered by many as the most authoritative restaurant guide in Asia has unveiled its third edition to a star-studded crowd comprised of top chefs, restaurateurs, food critics and journalists in the region  at the Grand Hyatt City of Dreams in Macau recently. For the second straight year, Restaurant Verbena of Discovery Country Suites makes it to the list as one of Asia’s finest restaurants.  An added distinction to Verbena’s sophomore inclusion is its No. 2 ranking in its list of Top 5 restaurants  in the Philippines.

The latest edition also favored other restaurants from the Discovery hotel group. 22 Prime, the steak specialty restaurant located on the 22^nd floor of Discovery Suites makes it to this year’s list.   The restaurant is a two-time “Best Steakhouse” winner in the annual Goldspot Awards conducted by popular website Spot.Ph.  It was also nominated as Best Fine Dining Restaurant in the Manila’s Best Kept Secrets (MBKS) 2010 Awards. 

Also making its Miele Guide debut is Indigo Restaurant, an upscale beachfront restaurant located in Discovery Shores Boracay that offers contemporary coastal cuisine.

Corporate Chef David Pardo de Ayala is the culinary mastermind behind the conceptualization and operation of these celebrated restaurants.  

The Miele Guide was created in 2008 in order to better recognize and celebrate Asia’s best chefs and restaurants. The latest edition features 400 of Asia’s finest restaurants. They were selected after rigorous rounds of judging which have been set in place to ensure that a credible, transparent system is used to showcase establishments that deliver true excellence and exceptional dining. The multiple rounds of judging also ensure that The Miele Guide accurately reflects the opinions of the dining public in Asia as well as the region’s most respected restaurant critics.

Discovery Country Suites Tagaytay is a scenic hour and fifteen minute drive from Manila via the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) or using the Coastal Road Expressway and the Aguinaldo Highway. From the SLEX, take the Carmona exit and drive through Governor’s Drive and Silang until you reach Tagaytay City. From Laguna, you can enter Tagaytay through the Carmona exit.
